Puppy Fostering

This weekend we are fostering two wee puppies from the Nelson SPCA.  The boys are loving having them around to play with.  They are cute wee black lab x's a boy, and a girl.  The wee boy has the sweetest nature ever and just wants to follow you aroud and have cuddles.  The wee girl is a lot more boisterous and scares the kid's sometimes but it's only becasue she is desperate to play.

I think my heart may just break a little come Monday when these two have to go back.  Still it's totally worth it.

The week (and a bit) that was

Its over. What a long, exhausting, 10 days it's been.  The arts festival has been a  lot of work but also it has been a lot of fun.  I have seen many amazing shows and very talented groups and individuals perform. I got to hear authors talk about their work and attend the book launch for Peter Butlers first book 'gravel road'.  I have been lucky enough to go and see apollo 13: mission control twice  and honestly if you ever get the opportunity to go and see this show then do.  It was amazing!

My neice turned five last weekend and somehow I managed to get this finished for her using this tutorial.  It was super fast and easy and whats best is she just loved it.

Masked

Few words today. Am too tired to think
Here are some pics of the Nelson Masked Parade (well the section we were in)

The theme for this year was "on the move"

Have a good weekend.  I will hopefully be back next week with a bit more enthusiasm.  Just 4 more days/nights of work to go, hooray!!!!!

Purples

I don't know what has happened to me, I used to loathe purple, all purple.  I would avoid it at all costs and if someone dare suggested I wear purple....... Now I find myself drawn to purple, purple of all shades.  I wonder why this happens?  I am slowly changing my tune regarding yellows and oranges too although I'm not sure I would ever be brave enough to wear either of those.

Here are some pics of some of some purple, just for fun

Have a good weekend all!

My creative space

Tomorrow night we are taking part in the Masked Parade as part of the Nelson Arts Festival.
We are joining Alfie's Montessori preschool and are dressing as butterflies.  I have sent a lot of time over the past five weeks helping them out, sewing, painting, dyining and cutting out.  This afternoon Alfie and I finished of our wings and masks ready for tomorrow.

The wings were already painted

so we just added glitter so they sparkle in the sun tomorrow afternoon

and then painted and decorated our masks

here is mine

and here is Alfie's.

The next ten days are going to be very very busy for me, there will be no crafting being done and more than likely very little blogging.  I am going to be working every night (apart from tomorrow) in the Granary Cafe which is one of the venues for the performances.  Its quite exciting but will involve many late nights which is always a terrifying prospect when you know you still need to get up bright and early with the children.  I'll let you know how it goes and hopefully be back with some photos of the masked parade.

In the garden

I got to spend a bit of time in the garden this afternoon. I love gardening, I really do. Not so much the constant weeding at this time of year but the planting and the watering and the satisfaction of watching your plants grow.

There is lettuce and mesculin mix.  Lots of it for all our summer salads

and strawberries.  The boys ate the first red strawberry yesterday and have to be reminded all afternoon today that they have to wait for them to turn red.  At this rate we won't get another red one.

and the coriander has sprouted. I love coriander. We use it lots.

Today we planted our cherry tomatoes, we got red ones and yellow ones.

the pototoes have gone from barely showing out of the top of the soil just before we went away to this in a little over a week!

the boys spent much of the afternoon hunting for worms to put into the vege garden

We also have red onions, garlic, spring onions, various herbs already growing well and just today i planted some green beans, butter beans and some purple beans as well as some peas.  I can't wait for harvest time!

We survived the week away

Well we did it.  Survived a week away.  We (and I guess I mean me here) even survived the plane trip there.  I was so nervous about going on the plane with two wee boys, busy wee boys.  Turns out all that worry was totally needless. Phew.  It really is noce to be home though.
This post will mostly be photos of our week.
There were playgrounds

many playgrounds

hours were spent

swinging

and see sawing

and swinging some more

and peeking

We spent a day out at an old family friends farm, she has two small children who the boys loved playing with. It was nice to be able to let them roam free for a day after the stress of staying in a childfree house for the previous few days.  We stayed at my brothers for the week and he and his partner don't have children.  Their house therefore not what you would call childproof so much time was spent dragging L in particular out of cupboards, picking up the pots he had thrown on the floor, picking up the crumbs he somehow spreads from one end of the house to the other and so on.  So a day of free ranging was just what we all needed.

they fed lambs

and even got to ride a pony.  I was honestly stunned when Alfie wanted to get on, we are talking about a child who is scared of cats.  Anything laeger than that usually sends him into a spin, but on he leapt and he loved it!

And the reason we went to Christchurch......

My sisters wedding.

The boys were page boys and were so adorable

and my nieces were flower girls.  The four of them were so unbelievably cute

These two girls are the boys favourite people ever.  I sometimes think they would trade callum and me if it meant they got to live with their cousins

Guess what my wardrobe wednesday will be this week?
